Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on April 26th in 1991. She is an American artist and songwriter, as well as the first artist signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. On October 21, 2016, she released Pho, her debut EP under the Dreamville Records label. This was when she first gained recognition. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It came out on May 19, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music onto the internet in 2012 when she dropped her first mixtape, Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography in 2013. In 2014, Ari Lennox continued posting her songs online, including her independent single Bound. Sweat It is featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album, which was released on July 21, 2015. The following year, her music circulated around the Dreamville group as J. Cole wanted her to work with him on some references for Rihanna. The news was released on the 8th of December that she was signed to Dreamville Records. Backseat was the result of her participation to The Revenge of the Dreamers II album. On the 21st of October in 2016, the EP Pho debuted. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change track, and performed on her own tour, the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. She also appeared in 2018 on two tracks with her label-mates EarthGang in the video for Nothing but the Best. Also, she appeared on Bas in Icarus. Ari Lennox's first album Shea Butter Baby was released on July 16, 2018. The debut single, Whipped Cream, from the album came out the 5th of September, 2018 and featured a the music video. In November, she dropped the singles 40 Shades of Choke & Grampa. In November 2013, she released her debut album No One, and Pedigree. Then she appeared on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track titled Shea Butter Baby on November 16 and released as a single in February, 2019 for her debut album of the same title. This track, which was launched with a music video posted on YouTube February 20, 2019 has been viewed over 3 million times within the first seven days. In December of 2018, she was part of the From East Atlanta With Love Tour, which featured 6LACK.
